Abstract

This study addresses the direction of Quranic readings in Surahs Al-Baqarah and Aal- Imran in the book "Al-Jamharah" by Ibn Duraid. The study adopts an inductive-analytical approach, aiming to identify the key readings in these two Surahs in Al-Jamhara's lexicon, highlight criticisms, and engage in discussions through an integrative methodology. The study also aims to introduce the author of the lexicon, Abi Bakr Muhammad ibn Al-Hasan ibn Duraid Al-Azdi (223 AH - 321 AH), and to disscus his scholarly upbringing, mentors, significant works, and the acclaim and recognition he received from scholars for his knowledge and virtue. The research then delves into a brief analysis of the introduction to the lexicon "Jamharah al-Lughah," Elucidates the reason behind naming lexicon along with the purpose of composition. Moreover, it mentions it’s various editions, and clarifies Ibn Duraid’s methodology, as well as the sections it encompasses. Among the results highlighted by the study is that Ibn Duraid's lexicon (Al-Jamharah) serves as a crucial source for researchers in linguistic studies and Quranic readings. Ibn Duraid adopted a unique alphabetical method, characterized by alphabetical transformations, while sharing general principles and sections with other lexicons. Although, He made substantial changes to the system which possibly led to some confusion in the lexicon regarding mixing sections and repeating materials and words.
