In contemporary times, nursing is regarded as a highly noble profession. Islam, which offers guidance for all aspects of human life, considers nursing as a profession suitable for women's nature and encourages it. Based on a review of literature, this study analyzes the contributions of nurses in Islamic history and examines the current status of the profession. The research traces the historical development of nursing within Islamic societies, beginning with the early Islamic period when Muslim women first engaged in organized care for the wounded and sick. The study documents how nursing responsibilities were carried out by notable female figures during significant historical events, including major battles and the establishment of the first bimaristans (hospitals). Through examination of historical texts and scholarly sources, this research highlights how Islamic principles influenced the development of nursing ethics and practices. The investigation reveals that Muslim women consistently played vital roles in healthcare delivery systems throughout different Islamic eras and across various geographical regions. The study further explores how the nursing profession has evolved within contemporary Muslim societies, analyzing current challenges and opportunities. The key finding of this study is that Muslim women have been significantly involved in nursing from the early Islamic period to the present day. This study can serve as a valuable resource for historical research on women and gender studies.
