About the Journal

Security and Information Applications (JSIA) is a new scholarly initiative spearheaded by the Centre of Research for Cyber Security and Network (CSNET), Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to address the urgent need for a high-quality, dedicated publication platform for research at the intersection of security and information systems. As digital infrastructure becomes increasingly interconnected, spanning cloud services, IoT and IoMT ecosystems, and AI-driven applications, a journal centred on applied, deployment-conscious security research is both timely and essential.

Vision

Our vision is to develop this journal into a respected, internationally indexed publication (MYCITE, DOAJ, ESCI, and eventually Scopus and Web of Science), contributing to the global security and information systems discourse while showcasing high-impact, practical research from Malaysia and the wider region.

Mission

Security and Information Applications is dedicated to advancing knowledge at the intersection of cybersecurity and information systems, with a focus on practical, deployable solutions. Our mission is to foster interdisciplinary research and dialogue that supports the development of secure, trustworthy information applications for an increasingly interconnected world.

Publication Schedule

JSIA follows a continuous publication model: one volume is published each year without issue numbers, and articles are published online as soon as the editorial process is complete.

Abstracting and Indexing

JSIA is a new journal. Our indexing targets are:

  • Year 1: MYCITE (MyJurnal) and DOAJ
  • Years 2 to 3: Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), Clarivate
  • Year 3: Scopus (Elsevier)
  • Years 4 to 5: Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE), Web of Science

Ethics and Malpractice Statement

JSIA is committed to ethical publishing practices in line with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines. This covers plagiarism, conflicts of interest, data integrity, authorship, and the handling of complaints about publication misconduct. Allegations of misconduct are investigated following COPE flowcharts and may lead to rejection, correction or retraction.

Peer Review Policy

All submissions, except editorials, undergo double-blind peer review by at least two independent expert reviewers. Manuscripts are first screened by the editors for scope, originality and adherence to the JSIA template, then sent to reviewers. Reviewers are asked to complete their review within four weeks and to recommend Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision or Reject. The final decision rests with the editors. Reviewers and editors must declare any competing interests.

JSIA is an open-access journal. On acceptance, authors transfer copyright of their article to the journal by signing the Copyright Transfer Agreement. Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), which allows unrestricted access, distribution and reuse, provided the original work is properly cited. Authors keep the right to reuse and self-archive their work, and authors bound by a funder mandate may sign a Licence to Publish instead. JSIA does not charge any article processing charges (APC). Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

The use of generative AI tools in preparing a manuscript must be clearly disclosed in the Acknowledgements section. AI tools cannot be listed as authors, and authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the content. Reviewers must not upload manuscripts to generative AI tools.
